Don't Panic Companion

Someone to go with you

The guides on this site get most people through most things. Some days that is not enough. The clerk says something the app does not catch, the landlord changes the terms at the door, or you are simply too tired to argue in a second language.

On those days you can book a Korean companion. I write these guides, and I will come with you, sit through the appointment, and stay until the thing is done.

What a companion can come along for

  • Activating a phone plan
  • Opening a bank account
  • A hospital or clinic visit
  • Viewing an apartment or a room
  • Reporting a move or a change of address
  • Buying or selling something second hand
  • Moving into a school or a dormitory
  • A repair visit at your home
  • Being there on moving day
  • Something else that is hard to do alone

What this is not

It is not an interpreting service. My English is limited, and a translation app will do most of the word for word work on the day.

What the app cannot do is ask the person behind the counter a second time, notice when something is off, and tell you calmly that it is going to be fine. That is what I am there for.

How it works

  1. 1Send an email with what you are facing, where you are, and which days work for you. The button below opens a draft.
  2. 2I reply by email with a date, a meeting point and the fee. If I cannot help with your case, I will say so.
  3. 3We meet and go together. If anything changes on the day, we sort it out on the spot.

What it costs

This is paid help. The fee depends on what it is and how long it takes, and it is agreed by email before anything is booked. Nothing is charged for asking, and the guides stay free to read.

Email to ask for a companion

Opens your mail app with a short draft. If it does not open, write to hello@dontpanickorea.com.
